Drop Technique

Drop Technique, also known as Thompson Drop-Table Technique, is named after Dr. J. Clay Thompson, who introduced it in the 1950s. When Dr. Thompson started practicing, he used an old table with a loose screw-jack that helped elevate the headpiece. Surprisingly, when he replaced his old table, the patients complained as they were not receiving the same results as before. In another incident, he learned how the mother's heel dropped back to the floor during a baby’s adjustment on the mother’s lap. Such experiences and his background helped him with the Technique.

Drop Technique is a low-force technique in which you will lie face down on the chiropractic table with different drop segments in the right places. Our chiropractor gently uses/use their hands on your neck, middle, and lower back depending on your condition and trigger areas, then drop the segments of the chiropractic table as you are lying on it.

How Drop Technique Works

Our chiropractor will ask about your medical history, including accident or trauma and health symptoms. Then you will be asked to lie with shoes on or not depending on our chiropractor's assessment of your condition. You will lie on the chiropractic table with different drop segments in the right places. Our chiropractor will flex your feet to check the alignment of your legs. Both x-rays and examinations will help Center For Auto Accident Injury Treatment to understand what adjustment is required for you. Based on our assessment, we will apply a gentle thrust, and the table will drop at the same time to guide the bones of your spine into the correct position and help relieve pressure on the nerves of the spine.

The treatment varies from patient to patient as some may notice a change after the first adjustment, while some may have to take several sessions for improvements.

If you have pain related to the spine, the Drop Technique may help you. You may contact Center For Auto Accident Injury Treatment at (208) 944-1010 to learn more about the technique.
